Barista Course - Three Hours

Are you passionate about coffee? Try a barista course! Perfect for people who want to learn how to make great coffee! Set in Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne, this coffee making course is taught by industry-trained instructors, giving you the skills to work as a barista or make perfect coffee at home.

What are the secrets to being an amazing barista? The difference between good coffee and bad coffee is knowing all the variables! This experience is perfect - fun for people who just want to make a great coffee, and it's formally recognised!

• Where coffee comes from, and how it was discovered by the Arabs and refined by the Italians (it's funny that even most baristas don't know that coffee is the seed from within a cherry that grows on a tree!)
• How coffee is grown and harvested (necessary to differentiate the tastes and aromas of coffee from different origins)
• How coffee is blended and roasted beacause 'in the end, it's all in the blend'
• How to pour the perfect espresso shot (under-extracted is too weak, over-extracted is too bitter - we tell you what you need to do to make it perfect)
• The art of frothing creamy, textured milk
• Learn all the drinks in a café menu with style (so you can pour a cappuccino - but can you pour a vienna, long macchiato and a doppio?)
• Latte art (we show you a few designs - you'll be amazed at how easy it is!)
• How to clean your equipment to maintain the taste of your coffee.

This is a very practical, hands-on course, so you'll have lots of time to practice your new skills! This course is perfect for:

• People who have had no prior experience with coffee
• People who have worked on espresso machines but have had no formal instruction
• People who are competent in coffee-making but need instruction on the finer aspects
• People who have a passion for coffee and want to learn more about it!

Sydney times are:

• Mon 9.30am-12.30pm, 1.30pm-4.30pm
• Tue 9.30am - 12.30pm, 1.30pm - 4.30pm
• Thur 10am - 1pm
• Fri 10am - 1pm
• Sat 9am - 12 noon

Melbourne times are:

• Wed 2-5pm, 6-9pm
• Fri 9am-12pm
• Sat 8.30-11.30am, 12.30-3.30pm

Brisbane times are:

• Thur 2-5pm, 6-9pm
• Fri 10am-1pm
• Sat 8.30-11.30am, 12.30-3.30pm

Guidelines:

This barista course is perfect for anyone with a love of coffee! BEWARE: This course is an intensive Barista experience… definitely not a “froth and giggle” experience. Whilst suitable for coffee-lovers & fun, be prepared use some serious commercial machinery in your quest for espresso excellence.

Numbers:

Numbers are dependent on the location of your course. In Sydney we can accommodate up to 17 people in a class, in Brisbane and Melbourne we can accommodate ten per class. There are 1-3 instructors per class in Sydney and 1-2 instructors in Brisbane and Melbourne, depending on class size.

Weather:

This experience is not affected by the weather.

Session Length:

This is a three-hour course, run year round.

Upon completion of this course you will receive a DVD entitled The Coffee Menu, a written coffee menu, a free ebook - How to get a fun job as a Barista, and an industry-recognised Barista certificate.
